Compact
The Wolverhampton Compact is a commitment between the Statutory Sector and Voluntary and Community Sector in Wolverhampton which aims to ensure we work better together.
The Wolverhampton Compact Partnership came together in 2004 to develop the Compact document, which was launched in April 2005. A Monitoring and Implementation Group has been set up to steer the implementation of the action plan including.
The Compact includes the agreement document based on 10 principles of how we work together, 6 codes of practice (see below) and a dispute resolution procedure. The work on the Compact is undertaken in a partnership arrangement between the Wolverhampton Voluntary Sector Council and the Wolverhampton City Council. The two organisations work closely to build upon the good relationship between the sectors in order to continue to improve partnership working and, therefore, outcomes for the communities of Wolverhampton.
The 6 codes of practice are:
- BME Community Groups
- Volunteering
- Funding
- Community Groups
- Consultation
- Equality and Diversity

Wolverhampton Compact E- Bulletin 4th August 2011
Wolverhampton Compact has been busy recently with three main strands of work.
Firstly, we launch our new mediation service which can offer groups, organisations and statutory agencies a route to empowering conflict resolution. Please contact Sue Anderson at sanderson@wolverhamptonvsc.org.uk or 01902 328977 for further information on how to access this service.
We have been working with Elected Members to put together a programme of seminars to help make the principles of the Compact and its codes of practice work in reality for Elected Members and Communities. We hope that these will be piloted in September. For further information about this work, please contact Martha Cummings on martha.cummings@wolverhampton.gov.uk or 01902 554082.
Finally, we have recently put together "The Busy Person's Guide to the Compact". It is designed to give a brief explanation on what Wolverhampton Compact can do for you along with a summary of it's principles and codes of practice. It also has a concise guide to mediation and dispute resolution. Please click on the pdf link to view the leaflet in full. If you would like to receive a hard copy of the leaflet or general information about the Wolverhampton Compact, please contact
Sue Anderson on sanderson@wolverhamptonvsc.org.uk 01902 328984.
I hope you find it a useful and portable tool that can be used as a quick reference guide to the Wolverhampton Compact.
