3.1 Introduction
This section of the Toolkit will enable you to gain a practical understanding of the selection and employment process. Key learning points for this section will include:
- Developing an understanding of staff/volunteer recruitment, including legal requirements and the processes involved
- Developing an understanding of staff/volunteer management including induction, contracts, training, appraisals, and disciplinary procedures
3.2 What is Human Resources
Human resources is the combination of administrative personnel functions with performance, employee relations and resource planning. It allows you to monitor the availability of qualified workers, recruit staff/volunteers, plan and present appropriate direction, training, and development for each employee, and administer employee benefit programmes.
