9.1 Introduction

This section of the Toolkit will enable you to gain an understanding of useful performance management tools, helping you to identify where improvements could be made or where improvements could be made or where you could save resources.  Key learning points for this section:

9.2 What is Performance Management?

Performance management focuses on the systems needed to improve operations.  Put simply, it means using systems and processes to make sure that whatever you do, you do it in the most effective way possible – saving time, money, and resources.  Performance management can be used to consider almost anything, such as the success of project, the efficiency of a service, or the impact of a policy.
