Project Co-ordinator – Together in Penn Fields

Lea Road Community Church are looking for a Project Co-ordinator to deliver our work supporting some of the most vulnerable people living in the Penn Fields and Graiseley areas of Wolverhampton.

Lea Road Community Church are looking to recruit a Project Co-ordinator to deliver a 3 year Lottery funded project designed to support people living in the Penn Fields and Graiseley areas of Wolverhampton. In particular the Project seeks to work with Roma people, people who are refugees and asylum seekers and people who have been directly and adversely affected by COVID 19.

The key purpose of the post will be to oversee and ensure the delivery of the project. This will include running a weekly Drop In and a Youth Club and overseeing the Food Project. This includes the weekly distribution of packages of food to people adversely affected by Covid. It will also entail developing and running a programme of workshops and short training courses. The role will involve managing and co-ordinating a small team of sessional workers and volunteers.

Contract – Initially a one year contract but extendable for a further two years following a successful one year review.

Hours of Work  Full time 37.5 hours per week

Annual Salary  –  £25,000

The post holder will report to, the Lea Road Community Church, Neighbourhood Projects Management Committee (NPMC).

Background

Lea Road Community Church has a long history of responding to the needs of the people living in the local neighbourhood. This Project is the latest phase in our journey to serve the people living in area in which the church has its building. Our mission statement states:

‘In response to God’s love for us, we seek to love God and love our neighbours as ourselves’

The funding for the project will enable us to do a number of things. Most importantly it will fund the range of community facing activities that we have developed over the last 10 years that up till now have been run mainly by volunteers and subsidised at least in part by the church. These activities will include the Drop In that we will now be able to run with an enhanced programme to include workshops and training that give people both the confidence and skills to go on to new things. There is also funding for a Youth Club and the Food Project.

Main tasks and responsibilities of this post will include:

All of these responsibilities will be required to be carried out in line with the funding that has been allocated to the project by the National Lottery

  1. Assessing needs and connecting with project beneficiaries

1.1 Carry out an initial needs assessment to ensure that the project aligns with the current needs and aspirations of the beneficiaries in the light of Covid 19.

1.2 Connecting with and consulting with people who the project is seeking to work with, including the people with whom there has been previous contact.

1.3 Undertaking regular consultation with the project beneficiaries.

  1. Developing, overseeing and working with the groups in line with the Project proposal

2.1 Restarting a drop in group for people living in Penn Fields and Graiseley.

2.2 Restarting the youth club.

2.3  Overseeing the delivery of the food project and aligning this with the Drop In.

  1. Developing a programme of workshops and training

3.1 Working with the people that the project is for in developing and organising appropriate training and workshops sessions building on the ideas already generated.

3.2 Recruiting specialist people to deliver the training and workshops.

3.3 Advertising and recruiting people to take part in the workshop and training programmes.

  1. Managing part-time staff and volunteers

4.1 Recruiting new volunteers for the project.

4.2 Supporting and co-ordinating volunteers.

4.3  Working with the NPMC to recruit part time workers for the project.

4.4 Line managing the youth workers to work with children and young people.

4.5 Line manage the Food Project Co-ordinator.

  1. Linking with other organisations both locally and nationally

5.1 Liaise with local organisations to promote the work of the project and maximise its impact.

5.2 Disseminate information and the lessons learned from delivering the project.

5.3 Identifying and applying for further funding to provide long term sustainability for the project.

  1. Monitoring and Evaluation

6.1 Ensuring that monitoring and evaluation information is collected on a regular and consistent basis.

6.2 Provide a monthly report on the progress of the project to the NPMC.

6.3 Ensuring that the project is delivered in line with the proposal that has been agreed with the Lottery and provide reports as required under the terms of the funding agreement.

6.4 Identifying the impact the project has in relation to its stated aims.

7.1 ensuring that the policies of Lea Road Community Church are implemented with particular reference to Safeguarding and Health and Safety.

7.2 ensuring that all project activities are carried out in a Covid safe way in line with both government rules and guidelines and within the health and safety policy.
